VERITAS is a Dominican-inspired Catholic Bible study dedicated to seeking Truth through Sacred Scripture, the teachings and history of the Catholic Church, and the wisdom handed down to us by the saints.
Veritas is Latin for “Truth”—a word deeply associated with the Dominican tradition and at the heart of our mission.
We believe that seeking Truth begins with a willingness to ask questions.
Whether you have been Catholic your entire life, are returning to the faith, belong to another Christian tradition, are exploring Catholicism, or are simply curious about who Jesus Christ is, you are welcome here.
You do not need to have all the answers.
You do not need to know the Bible cover to cover.
You do not even need to know exactly what you believe yet.
Bring your Bible. Bring your questions. Come seeking Truth.
What we study:
Our journey begins with the New Testament and the Gospel according to Luke. Then Mark, Matthew, & John.
Each week, we gather to read and study a chapter of Sacred Scripture. But our study does not end with the biblical text.
Together, we explore:
Sacred Scripture — What does the passage say, and what does it reveal about Jesus Christ?
Sacred Tradition — How has the Catholic Church received, understood, and preserved these truths?
Church History — How did the earliest Christians live their faith, and how has the Church developed throughout the centuries?
The Saints & Church Fathers — What can those who came before us teach us about understanding and living the Word of God?
Our Lives Today — What is Christ asking of us now?
There is always room for discussion, questions, reflection, and prayer.

VERITAS draws particular inspiration from the spirituality of the Order of Preachers, commonly known as the Dominicans, founded by St. Dominic in the 13th century.
Dominican spirituality has a profound love for prayer, study, community, and preaching.
We study not simply to know more, but so that what we discover may lead us into deeper contemplation of God and ultimately transform the way we live and share our faith.
This is beautifully expressed in the Dominican tradition:

To hand on to others the fruits of contemplation.
VERITAS is an independent Catholic Bible study inspired by Dominican spirituality and does not imply official affiliation with the Order of Preachers.
Our Four Pillars
PRAYER
Truth is not merely something to understand. It is Someone to encounter. We begin and end our gatherings by turning our hearts toward God.
STUDY
Catholicism welcomes the life of the mind. We approach Scripture with curiosity, reason, historical context, and the teaching tradition of the Church.
COMMUNITY
We seek Truth together. VERITAS is a place for friendship, thoughtful conversation, encouragement, and genuine questions.
MISSION
What we receive should not remain with us. We are called to live the Gospel and share the light of Christ with others.

Some will arrive with strong faith.
Some will arrive with questions.
Some may simply wonder what Catholics actually believe and why.
There is a place at the table for each.
Our purpose is not to be afraid of difficult questions, but to pursue them faithfully—with Scripture, reason, prayer, and the wisdom of the Church as our guides.
