Our Study

Scripture. Tradition. Saints. Truth.
At VERITAS, we believe the Word of God deserves more than a quick reading.
Each week, we gather to read Sacred Scripture slowly, ask questions freely, explore its historical context, discover how the Catholic Church has understood it throughout the centuries, and learn from the saints and Church Fathers who dedicated their lives to knowing and following Christ.
Our first journey begins in the New Testament:
Our journey Through the Gospels
4 gospels. 4 witnesses. 1 Jesus Christ.
Our journey begins at the heart of Christianity:Â Jesus Christ.
Before exploring the rest of the New Testament, VERITAS will journey through all four Gospels, few chapters at a time.
Each Evangelist introduces us to Christ from a distinctive perspective. Together, their testimony gives us a richer understanding of who Jesus is, what He taught, what He accomplished, and what it means to follow Him.

I. LUKE
Encounter Jesus.
We begin with the Gospel according to Luke.
From the Annunciation and Visitation to the Nativity, Christ's public ministry, His parables, His mercy toward sinners, His Passion and Resurrection, Luke invites us to encounter the person of Jesus Christ.
24 chapters.
In the same way, there is more joy in heaven over one lost sinner who repents and returns to God than over ninety-nine others who are righteous and haven't strayed away!
-LUKE 15:7

II. MARK
Follow Jesus.
Next, we enter the Gospel according to Mark.
Fast-moving and direct, Mark confronts us with an essential question:
Who is Jesus—and what does it cost to follow Him?
Through Christ's miracles, teachings, confrontations, Passion, and Resurrection, we explore the meaning of Christian discipleship.
16 chapters.
Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.
-mark 11:24

Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I'm with you always, even to the end of the age.
-Matthew 28:20
III. MATTHEW
Learn from Jesus.
Matthew presents Christ as teacher, Messiah, and fulfillment of God's promises.
Here we will encounter the Sermon on the Mount, the Kingdom of Heaven, Christ's parables, the calling of the Apostles, Peter's confession of faith, and Christ's teaching concerning His Church.
Matthew also provides rich opportunities to explore the relationship between the Old and New Testaments and the foundations of Catholic teaching.
28 chapters.
